Dirt Bike ThailandLets face it., if you didn't love dirt bikes or pit bikes you wouldn't be looking at Dirt Bike Thailand website. Sure, your real passion is off-road, enduro-style riding or trail rides with your friends. But if you're like most of us off-road motorcyclists, anything to do with motorcycles is going to grab your attention.

I know a lot of off-road riders who say they don't want the competitive side of dirt biking. That's fine, treat it like a trail ride or pit biking. The courses mapped out for these events are some of the finest you're ever bound to lay a knobby tire over. Why miss out on that?

Another great reason for taking part in off-road race events is the safety side of things. A good friend of mine was involved in a head-on accident with a four-wheel-drive while on s social ride with some friends. He interestingly pointed out, 'In all my years of off-road racing I never suffered one big accident and here I am with a busted leg and busted arm. Off-road racing was so much safer because we were all going in the same direction.'

Anyway, my friend is on the mend and I now have an even better reason to get involved with more off-road races, rallies and organized rides.

It is a lot of fun riding the various makes and models and, despite bursting with information packed on our Dirt Bike Thailand website we also have our own Dirt Bike Thailand Forum and Multi Media Gallery.

KTM factory riders take both MX1 and MX2 GPs in Mexico

Dirt Bike RacingRed Bull KTM factory riders Tony Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings sealed both the MX1 and MX2 GPs in Guadalajara Mexico on Sunday in Rd. 4 of the World Championships to move further ahead in their respective championships and retain the coveted red plates.

After a clear victory in the opening moto for Cairoli the five times world champion had to engage in a tough four-way fight for the checkered flag in the closing stages of the second moto. The final result could have gone either way right up to the last seconds but he managed to hang on to third place to grab the GP win by a slender one point. It was a fight all the way for Cairoli.

He was back at sixth at the start of the second moto but in his usual dynamic way was quickly mixing it with the race leaders. With a handful of laps to go he looked certain to challenge for the lead but then dug the front end of his 350 SX-F into the sand and sacrificed two places. Cairoli then went on the offensive on the now deeply rutted track. He managed to hang on to third but also received some assistance thanks to a last minute charge by fellow Italian David Philippaerts who spoilt the party for rivals Clement Desalle and Christophe Pourcel. Cairoli’s third place was enough to give him the overall prize.

Desalle 2nd in Dutch MX1 Qualifying

Dirt Bike RacingChilly but bright conditions at Valkenswaard on Easter Sunday greeted a positive start to the FIM Motocross World Championship for Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1 as Clement Desalle took his factory RM-Z450 to second position in the first MX1 Qualification Heat of the season.

The Belgian commenced the opening meeting of 16 in the series slowly building up his speed and refining the works motorcycle to best cope with the bumps and ruts of the shallow sand. Desalle, developing new engine management components, made a few tweaks to the set-up as well adjustments to his rear shock (to lower the ride height of the bike) and a handlebar modification in search of the best feeling on the demanding terrain.

The 22 year old started the 20 minute and 2 lap heat inside the top five and focused throughout the sprint in gaining ground and passing two riders to reach second spot - and therefore the same pick of gate positions for the Grand Prix motos tomorrow - behind World Champion Tony Cairoli.
